ANTI-VIRUS WORKSHOPS

WORKSHOP ON

REMOVING COMPUTER VIRUSES MANUALLY
- A HANDS-ON APPROACH

Can you get infected by just visiting a website? Why is Facebook insecure? Why is Google Chrome the safest browser? Why should you start migrating to Windows 7? What is Scareware? What is Ransomware? What is Fake Anti-virus software? What are Keyloggers? What is spyware? What are rootkits? What are drive-by downloads? Is it true that you can get infected by a virus just by inserting a flash (pen) drive into the computer? What are the best anti-virus softwares? How do you know that you are infected by a virus? Is it necessary to format a machine to remove a virus?

Get answers to the above questions and a host of other queries that have been troubling you at our unique workshop.

After the highly successful first and second workshops in Sri Lanka focusing on removal of viruses in PCs, we are pleased to announce that another workshop on the same theme with updated software, methods and information will be held in February 2012. It will focus on advanced methods to eradicate hard-to-remove viruses in machines already infected and how to prevent further attacks.

Certain viruses that have infected PCs in recent times are causing havoc by making PCs run extremely slow, disabling antivirus guards, task manager and the registry and are even spreading rapidly through USB flash (pen) drives. Once infected, most of them will not allow you to update your virus definitions and will prevent installation of new anti-virus software. This workshop will give you the skills to tackle even the most virulent of viruses.

Dangerous new malware are making the rounds in the guise of legitimate antivirus software. Going by such names as ‘Win 7 Anti-virus 2011', ‘Total XP Security’, Windows Anti-virus 2011’ and ‘Disk Doctor Pro’, this type of malware succeeds by resembling legitimate Windows programs.

Instead of formatting a PC to get rid of a virus or troublesome spyware infection, we will take you through a step by step method to get rid of the infection. We will also introduce a foolproof method of removing viruses from USB flash drives and protecting the computer being infected again through such drives.

MODULES INCLUDE:

*  Types and methods of infection and how to prevent further attacks -
Internet, E-mail and USB Flash (Pen) Drives
*  Manual removal of computer viruses - without antivirus programs
*  Removal of computer viruses using antivirus software
*  Removal of Adware, Spyware and Malware

The workshop will include a live demonstration of how a PC gets infected using sample live viruses. A step by step method of removing the viruses will be shown; this will include manual removal without any antivirus software. Participants are encouraged to bring along their USB flash drives that contain hard-to-remove viruses and infect the PC used for demonstration purposes. The participants will then have a first-hand look on cleaning up viruses from the system and the USB drive.

As some of the concepts discussed in this workshop are highly advanced, only those with extremely good computer skills should participate.

Workshop participants will be given three CDs containing information on how to remove viruses manually, a host of documents with vital information on how to weed out viruses and unwanted/malicious programs and a full set of tools to help you get started on removing viruses and malware on PCs.

Venue : Hotel Renuka, Colombo 3
Date : To be announced - Probably May 2012
Duration of Workshop : Full Day - 9:30 am to 5:30 pm

Number of Participants

: 30 to 35
  Fee : Rs. 6,000/-

This programme is very important for me. I learnt lots of things about virus cleaning. So by learning these things I can clean computer viruses manually. Then I can teach these things to my staff members. These days I thought the only thing to clean viruses are virus guard software or format the hard disk. Now I know various facilities are there to clean them. I learnt a lot and I like to participate in future workshops.
